Research/Queries

The Library offers reference service only. Three reading rooms are provided for public inspection of materials - the General Reading Room, the Rare Books Reading Room and the Special Collections Reading Room. They are open to the public as follows:
Monday to Thursday --- 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Fridays ----------------- 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Card catalogues are maintained for all collections. The computerized catalogue of books and pamphlets (NATCAT) is available on-line in the library. There is also a computerized database of the Map Collection and a card catalogue of Estate and Cadastral Maps.
Regulations for using the collections include the following:
- Only pencils may be used for taking notes
- No files or folders or books are allowed in the reading rooms
- Only three items at a time are allowed to users
- Gloves, which will be provided, must be used when handling materials such as prints and photographs.
