Sub-series 9.1 Personal Correspondence

This series contains personal letters written by Bert to Eric Coverley (EC) and other writers some of who are H.O. Beresford Wooding and Granville. There are also references written for various persons, a postcard and a handmade greeting card.

9.1.2 Friends and family Mainly letters, postcards, and a handmade birthday card from friends and family One (1) letter  dated 1948, another undated. Other letters span from Oct 1959- April 1971

9.2.3 Caribbean Thespians Invitation letters written to EC from Caribbean Thespians. Responses from EC included April – October 1949
9.2.4 J.Wray & Nephew Limited Correspondence related to J.Wray & Nephew Co. Ltd. December 1960
9.2.5 Eric Coverley’s Promotion, and Art Company Correspondence relating to Eric Coverley’s Promotion, and Art Company. Some letters written to a Mr. Oswald Rodgers regardin a show. Other letters written to ECfrom various persons and organizations as B&B Publications Ltd., and a C.V. Bradshaw from Productions &Promotions, Fred Mendes and others.
Also contains a contract between EC Productions and Promotions Ltd. One letter from a Gloria Watts who appeared to be in his employ.

9.2.8 Jamaica Government Railway Letters written to EC during his tenure at the Jamaica Railway.  October 1947- July 1950
9.2.9 Churches Correspondence relating to support for church, and church groups. One letter written to Reverend Doctor Gladstone of Bishop’s Residence requesting EC speak with and advise a young man named Noel Knibb. June1948, February - March 1949 - March 1950, November, 1970

 

9.2.10 Schools Letters from schools requesting Coverley’s  attendance at various school events. Notices and agenda from Kingston Technical school July 1948 – Aug 1950

9.2.12 Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) One letter written by EC in which he thanks JBC for allowing the presentation of the “Lou and Ranny Show” on stage at the Ward Theatre Monday 26, 1960.

9.2.13 The Government Broadcasting Station Two letters responding to requests made to broadcast services. The first dated March 28, 1949 and the second February 21, 1949. One is a favourable response to a broadcast request for Mr. Cooke’s Orchestra. February 1948 -1949
9.2.14 Newspapers(The Daily Gleaner, Public Opinion and Jamaica Times) Three letters, one each addressed to the Daily Gleaner, Public Opinion and Jamaica Times requesting that the arrival of Emmanuel Bird and the Birdlanders of the Birdland Club, London, be published in the respective papers.

Three letters addressed to EC from the President Vincent Mc-Intosh of the Gleaner Children’s Corner Club in relation to a talent drive.

Two letters, one addressed to the Accountant at the Gleaner and the other a letter written by EC to the editor.

9.2.17 August/Christmas Morning Shows at the Ward Theatre Correspondence relating to the staging of the August/Christmas Morning and other Shows at the Ward Theatre. One letter written regarding the Ward theatre’s improvement and maintenance, dated September 17,1949 (author unknown)  1949, November –December 1960.
9.2.18 Vaughn’s Display Inc., Correspondence regarding items for purchase from Vaughn Display Inc., The papers also include brochures from Vaughn Display Inc., October 1955
9.2.19 Circuses Correspondence relating to the procurement of a circus to Jamaica June 1957 -1959 - 1960
9.2.20 Trade Administrator Letters written by EC to the Trade Administer requesting permission to print items as programmes. Responses are included. September 1949 – October 1949
